Consuming positive media has so many benefits.
Now more than ever, it seems like we’re bombarded with negative media everywhere we look – the news, Facebook, tv, etc. What we take in has a significant impact on how we think, feel, and say, and it’s easy to overconsume the negativity and to see the worst in things.
This is why I’m always recommending limiting depressing/stressful news and entertainment and replacing it with something uplifting or optimistic. In fact, in my 30 Day Happiness Challenge, I suggest listening to or watching at least 1 hour of positive media per day (I do this every day, regardless of whether I’m participating in my challenge).
My favorite positive media centers around personal development because every time I read or listen to self-help gurus I feel so empowered and in control of my life. Reading one chapter or listening to one episode literally can turn a bad or “meh” day into a hopeful one. Looking at the good in the world and focusing on the things within my control has changed my life.
Because of this, I want to share with you the top 5 podcasts I listen to that keep me going (and inspired) throughout each day.
The Good Life Project by Jonathan Fields
“Inspirational, intimate and disarmingly-unfiltered conversations about living a fully-engaged, fiercely-connected and meaning-drenched life.”
I have to start out with The Good Life Project with Jonathan Fields because it’s really the first podcast I ever seriously listened to. And, it’s actually how I first started getting into personal development a few years back. If you need reassurance that there is good in the world, look no further!
Every week Jonathan hosts interviews/conversations with creators, authors, speakers, and other “world-shakers” about how to live a purpose-driven, connected life. Listening to these interviews will introduce you to so many amazing people and will give you ideas on how to pursue your dream life.
Design Your Dream Life by Natalie Bacon
“This podcast is for women who want to reignite their lives. For women who want more fulfillment, more money, and more freedom. If you want to accomplish impossible goals, master your mindset, make more money, or build an online business, this is for you.”
I can’t talk about personal development without mentioning my life coach, Natalie Bacon. Natalie is a lawyer turned financial planner turned blogger turned CEO and Life Coach. Her podcast, Design Your Dream Life, is all about “designing your life on your terms.”
Each episode focuses on an area of personal development, such as changing your mindset, decluttering your mind and your physical environment, adding constraints to maximize your thinking capacity and potential, and so much more.
I binge-listened to the first 30 or so episodes in a matter of days, and I’m always looking forward to Natalie’s new episode each Wednesday. (Even writing about this podcast makes me want to relisten to every episode!) I recommend this podcast to everyone I know because it’s shown me how to take control of my thoughts and emotions and how to achieve better results in every area of my life.
I also highly encourage you to check out some of Natalie’s other personal development offerings, she has several courses – Money Mindset for Her, Online Business for Her, and Personal Development for Her – as well as a monthly coaching program (Grow You) which, if you experience is anything like mine, is WELL worth your time and money!
Regardless, you should check out the podcast, you won’t regret it!
The Life Coach School Podcast by Brooke Castillo
“The Life Coach School Podcast is your go-to resource for learning, growing, and becoming certified as a Life Coach & Weight Loss Coach. Through this podcast, you’ll hear directly from the Master Coach Brooke Castillo to help you better understand life coaching, the required skills and mindsets, and how we focus on serving the client to get them the results they seek.”
Brooke Castillo is the creator of the Life Coach School, which teaches students how to manage thoughts, emotions, actions and therefore results. I learned about Brooke Castillo, the Master Life Coach, through following Natalie Bacon (a student of the Life Coach School) and found Brooke’s podcast to be equally inspiring as Design Your Dream Life.
The Life Coach School Podcast teaches you how to improve your thoughts through “self-coaching” and the use of Brooke’s model – the CTFAR model. The gist of the model is:
C: Your circumstances are neutral.
T: Your thoughts are within your control, and your thoughts create your…
F: Feelings, which create your…
A: Actions, which, in turn, create your…
R: Results.
Framing my thoughts and results in life around this model alone has completely changed the way I operate day-to-day. While I haven’t completed my binge of this one yet (it’s over 300 episodes!), I’m well on my way. There are so many actionable steps provided by Brooke that you can take to change the way you think and get crazy new results with your goals.
Give The Life Coach School Podcast a listen, it just might change your life!
The Brendon Show by Brendon Burchard
“Go behind the scenes with Brendon, the world’s leading high performance coach and one of the Top 100 Most Followed Public Figures in the world, as he speaks to 20,000 people in arenas, coaches celebrities, helps his students, and reaches millions of people every week with his message for how we can all live, love and matter. Every week, Brendon shares what he’s struggling with, working on and marching towards – and how we can all live an extraordinary life. This is an intimate and inspiring look into the life and strategies of one of the most watched, followed and quoted personal development trainers in history.”
I am envious of Brendon Burchard’s seemingly endless energy, hard-working mentality, and positivity. Brendon is a New York Times best-selling author and a “high-performance coach,” and it shows.
The Brendon Show podcast alternates between episodes that give you “tactical training” on how to improve a specific area of your life and Brendon’s stories about his week’s adventures, service and the lessons he’s learned.
If you’re looking to improve your energy, your happiness and increase your productivity, this podcast is for you.
Limitless Life by Melyssa Griffin
“After years of running a multimillion-dollar company, I realized that what keeps most entrepreneurs from success isn’t a clever marketing strategy: it’s the confidence to follow their own path. Instead of brave risks and aligned decisions, we squish ourselves into boxes that keep us small. It may look like: approval-seeking, the fear of being “seen,” procrastination, or minimizing your dreams so that you don’t make anyone around you uncomfortable. No matter what, they all result in you shrinking what’s possible for your life and business. This podcast changes all that. After years of self-exploration and radical risk-taking (including a six month sabbatical from my multimillion-dollar business), I’ve learned that with the right mindset, you can truly live an authentic life. Through interviews, coaching calls, and solo shows, we’ll unlock how to let go of the fear holding you back and reprogram your mindset to live an approval-free, limitless life.”
Melyssa’s podcast, Limitless Life, aims to “transform your fears and roadblocks into a truly limitless version of yourself.”
The podcast alternates between solo episodes by Melyssa, interviews with other motivational figures, and actual life/business coaching sessions in which you get to listen to Melyssa coach her clients and students. Listening to this podcast inspires me to seek out and live my truest, most authentic life.
Hearing Melyssa’s voice just makes me smile. Although this podcast is relatively new, I’m already hooked on it and I think you will be too!
